Launching the De Beauvoir Block: Hackney’s hub for creative businesses

The De Beauvoir Block, or The Block as it is more commonly known, is a network of 33 workspaces in a former Edwardian warehouse building, owned and managed by the Benyon Estate.

Set in the heart of Hackney’s creative district, The Block is a vibrant employment hub in De Beauvoir Town for businesses and individuals working in creative industries.

KOR supported the Benyon Estate with The Block’s grand opening event; a sparkling evening reception, with the official opening and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque conducted by Meg Hiller MP.

Around 100 guests, including local businesspeople and councillors joined some of the tenants for the opening and a tour of The Block.

The space is designed to support businesses as they grow, from individual hot-desks through to larger office space – and some tenants have progressed to take on the lease for entire buildings from the Benyon Estate. These businesses tell the story of how the Estate is delivering optimum, flexible workspace to allow creative companies to thrive.

Since its opening, and as part of our ongoing work with the Benyon Estate, KOR continues to raise the profile of the co-working hub by profiling tenants, sharing business growth news, introducing new team members, and helping to publicise events held in the space.

Engaging with tenants, project partners and the wider community, our aim is to demonstrate that the De Beauvoir Block is a forward-thinking, responsible business, supporting and working alongside the local community.
