Who are KOR Communications?

The KOR team includes experts in public relations, public affairs, development planning consultations and stakeholder engagement, rural affairs and media relations, including former print and broadcast journalists.

Why use KOR?

We use our knowledge and expertise in the sector to raise awareness of our clients’ work as responsible and progressive landowners; demonstrating their social value to build and nurture trusted relationships with local communities and key stakeholders.

Investing in professional communications which delivers reputational capital is essential for businesses to generate understanding and advocacy for their work. It builds trust and gathers support for current and future projects, as well as development proposals which may require public backing.

What does KOR do and how?

For our portfolio of retained clients, we plan and execute bespoke, proactive communication and engagement strategies, in line with their business objectives.

For development projects, we plan and deliver public consultations and engage with stakeholders to support our clients with planning applications. We provide public affairs intelligence to monitor any changes in local government and planning policies which could affect their proposals.

We manage reputational threats and provide a crisis communications service, where necessary.

Outputs are targeted across digital platforms and social channels, as well as distribution to local and sector-specific print titles and broadcast media where appropriate.

How do you measure the impact of your work?

We monitor local, regional and national publications for coverage daily, as well as track website and social media statistics monthly.

A biennial Impact Report takes an in-depth look at outputs, outtakes and outcomes, including analysis of social media activity and growth, Google Analytics data, coverage achieved, successes and improvements. Measured alongside the business and communications objectives, this enables us to plan communications activity for the coming year.

Case Studies

The Manydown Rural Estate

KOR was appointed to provide communications and public affairs intelligence to help gain planning permission for the regeneration of a redundant dairy farm at The Manydown Rural Estate, near Basingstoke.

A proactive communications and engagement strategy was devised which included identifying and engaging with stakeholders, creating informative content for a public exhibition which we organised and executed, as well as building a project website, collecting feedback and writing a comprehensive Statement of Community Involvement.

David Neal-Smith, Property Director at The Manydown Rural Estate said: “KOR’s experience of how landed estates work is helping us reach our business objectives."

The Englefield Estate

Using a range of channels, from social media to newspapers, websites, radio and television, KOR and the Englefield Estate have worked together since 2017 to promote the estate’s positive environmental and educational work.

A proactive communications strategy to engage the Estate’s audiences has helped to shift the perception of it being a traditional custodian of the land and property in its care, to raising awareness and understanding of how its work benefits communities, the environment and the economy - delivering reputational capital and meeting business objectives.

Clinton Devon Estates

KOR’s involvement in the Lower Otter Restoration Project started more than 10 years ago when client Clinton Devon Estates, along with the Environment Agency began planning to restore 55 hectares of intertidal habitat where the River Otter meets the sea at Budleigh.

Communications and engagement have been managed carefully over this time so that stakeholders were kept informed and, where relevant, involved in the project as it moved through the many stages towards completion. It was critical that the media understood the proposals, so that local communities were accurately informed.
